I have gone with a disc brake conversion for the front D27. The problem is that the bump stop axle arm is seriously in the way and the new caliper hits it.

Did anyone else have this problem? I don't want to not come up with something to protect the starter.

I know there were some other brackets that the factory used depending on the year of manf. Anyone have some pics and what size they are?

    I am all ears guys,
    Thanks

Oh, there are some updated pics of my build so far if anyone is interested in the link above

Consider Rancho bumpstops above the axle to prevent driveshaft contact with the starter.
I ran them at all corners.

This pic is after I did the D30 swap, but I ran these bumpstops with the D27 prior to that:

My '75 has one of these on both sides:

Would not be hard to mount these if you can get them from a '72-75 frame. They are riveted, but bolts would work too.

I see the mark of a Grip Spur there. Sounds like a rumble strip on the freeway when that happens. I miss that.................

I have disc brakes and use the Rancho bump stops. Seem to work well.

Hey Tim, I remember talking about this before. Yours has the later(or earlier) version riveted on your frame right? I'm glad I didn't buy that bumpstop for the one I have now.

Hey Lynn, Do you happen to know what the individual part # is for that stop? That one looks like it will bolt directly into the existing holes from the shorter bumpstop right?

Yep, all 4 bolted into existing frame holes in the '71.

Looks like p/n RS8204. 2" longer than stock. Same p/n front and rear, fits stock holes.
I did a google search on Rancho Bump stops, and found a site that showed the p/n.

You'll have to do your own search to find the best price.

The one I happened to select but do not necessarily endorse shows $53.95 per axle set with free shipping.

Yes, I guess it's a later style. The bracket is riveted to the frame, but the rubber bumper that attaches to the bracket has a stud sticking out of it.
