A few months ago I left the gas cap off my tank over night and little leaves blew in the tank. I found this out when the jeep stopped working, I took the pump off, and it was clogged with debris. I replaced it and put a filter before the pump as well. It only lasted a few hours, then the jeep wouldn't run. There where 2 or three pine needles in the pre pump filter but nothing major. I replaced it with a new bosch pump and am still only getting 1 or 2 psi out of my new pump. I checked all the line for debris but they are clean. I know the vaccum gauge is accurate. Any idea what could be going on?

    Vacuum gauge?
Might pull the pump and look at the fuel pump eccentric on the front of the cam to make sure it's not worn flat.

Not much. I haven't used a mechanical pump for 25 or more years. The electric ones do a great job.

Why would you have to pull the fender off?

My guess is that leaves or pine needles have plugged the feed hole from the tank. The pump requires liquid in order to build pressure. If the fuel is restricted, the pump pressure will be decreased. By removing the elbow at the bottom of the tank, you should get a good steady flow of fuel from it. I'm supposing you have the under seat tank?
