    1964_cj5 I'd rather be Jeepin'

I just measured my toe in and it is way off! My tires are toed in more than an inch. What affect would this have on driveability? Could this be the cause of some of my shimmies and shakes?

Probably. It will be squirrely, and eat the outside edges of your tires. I run mine 1/8" in.

Here is a easy way to adjust the toe in from the FSM

If you have two friends hold a piece of straight scrap lumber (lightweight angle iron is even better!) against the outer sidewalls of the front tires you can use a tape to get a pretty accurate measurement.

When taking measurements........can the frontend be off the ground or does the jeep have to be on the ground for accurate measurements?

My Dad told me about how his dad did alignments on the old model "T".....said he had an old broom stick that was cut to the exact length and would stick it between the wheels and make the adjustments. I would think you could do the same for these old JEEPs.

  7. Leave it on the ground and just measure the inside lip of the wheel, front and rear and adjust the front 1/4 less than the rear.

If, if, everything is tight and not worn, it does not matter.
