sleeve over hub

    i have got a soft metal sleeve over my hub. the wheel slides right over it. i cant get to the hub bolts with this thing in the way. i tried getting it off but it doesn't budge. i suppose i just need to cut it off. i will try and put pics up

    looks like the beauty ring from a set of chrome after market wheels, think if it's somehow fused to the drum you'll have to cut it off

    i figured it was some kind of aftermarket add-on. i just wanted to make sure before i went to hacking on it

    Yeah, it's not Jeep. Cut it back or bend it enough so you can remove the hub bolts and slide the Warn hub out. Take the drum and hub off as a unit - you can then work on the sleeve on your bench.

    tim - your link says 2 1/8" spindle nut socket.. i searched the site and found threads that stated I needed 2 1/16" or 2 3/32". not much difference in the three but would like to buy the correct one.

    There's only one socket. The fit is sloppy, so it could be any of those measurements - I think I measured the nut with a caliper, but I don't recall the precise size. Doesn't need much force to tighten, so the cheap and inaccurate stamped metal socket works fine. A real forged socket would cost 2-3 times as this item.
