by-pass hose

    Is the purpose of the small hose between the water pump and water inlet to by-pass the thermostat untill it gets hot enough to open. This is on a 225 v6 engine. Also does anyone know of a sourse for a new water inlet housing, mine is all pitted and can't get it to seal properly.

    Looks good, but the description says it's cast aluminum. Is yours steel?

    It was steel. I had to clean up the casting a little with a Dremel so i'd get a good seal on the hoses. But for sure it was steel.
