Does anyone know why I would bend two pushrods after about 15 minutes of run time on a rebuilt 225 v6 engine. It has new lifters but I used the old pushrods. The valves aren't stuck and the lifters look fine. Could it be that I didn't pre-oil the lifters before I installed them. I'm getting ready to put it back togethetr and don't want to run into the same problem again.

    Always lube parts before installation.

Did you put the push rods back in exactly as they came out????

Don't know what causes it, but I've seen it before. Let a good-running engine sit for a long time. When it's restarted, it bends pushrods, with no obvious cause. Possibly the lifters don't leak down like they should? Or somehow something gets into the cylinder and interferes between the valve and the piston?
