When I got it, my 66 CJ-5 (v6) had thick aluminum spacers between the center cross member and the frame. This was to give more clearance between the top of the transfer case and the bottom of the tub I suppose.

Was a spacer at that location a factory item or did the previous owner install it?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Moved to the appropriate section.

My '67 had 4, 1/4" plates on each side from the factory.

My 66 Tuxedo Park has the same aforementioned 1/4" spacers. 3 on each side IIRC, for a total drop of 3/4".......or maybe it was 4.

my 67 had two. I think they may have been to correct the driveshaft angles

The '67 I parted with the T-86 had iirc 3 on each side and so did the Daughter's '70 with the T-14. Could've been 4, but was definitely 3 or more. These were steel by the way, not aluminum. If yours are aluminum I'd say something a previous owner (po) added.
