I'm looking at this header for my engine swap http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-717019/ Has any body had any experience with it, also the nickle plating is reasonably priced but I wonder if it will help longevity especially here in the salt belt. Thanks Phil

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

I bought the AA 225 conversion headers for my CJ2A in 1983 when I did the conversion.
The fit and quality was way better than Hooker Headers at the time. What I liked was that with a little heat and careful massage (of both fender and header) I did not have to cut out the inner fender panels to make the headers fit. That was important to me. I did make one modification to the drivers side rear tube, but had I planned ahead a little better, I wouldn't have had to make that.
They are now 28 years old; I welded the first crack in the collector this last summer.
I'm not in the rust belt by any means, but they have far exceeded my expectations.
I think mine were cadium plated ???? not plain steel.
I would give them a 5 star rating.

My Dad installed a set of chrome AA headers on his CJ when he built it. They looked nice, thick (3/8") flange, etc. They were longer than the Hedmans though, so if you wanted mufflers/ turnouts in front of the rear tires, there isn't much room.
They lasted 6 years of daily driver use before the driver side rusted completely through where the tubes come together. All the plating except for a few inches near the ports was rusted and gone. My Hedmans have been on my Jeep for about 8 years and roughly three times the mileage he got out of the AA headers and have been fine. No rust through, only surface rust on the very bottoms, and never a leak.

I have a set on the 4.3 in my flat fender fit like a glove
as for the nickle plate I opted not to get it and had them powder coated and ceramic coated on the inside to reduce heat
    before powder coat

I've got a set on my '51 and another up on a shelf. This was before I helped Eric at Novak design the blockhugger headers. Mine have been just fine and I run SuperTraps to exit in front of the rear tires.

IT seems like AA is the only answer, I contacted hedman and they dont have a header anymore. From a picture I found on the JP site it looks like the header gos back as far as the drain hole. I already have a pair of glass paks about 18" long do you think they would fit. Thanks Phil

mine measure 22", but I run tailpipes all the way out the back.
18" should work if you're planning out the side under the door opening.
    it will be louder
standard glass packs probably won't last long
V6 runs "hot" and burns 'em out pretty quick
    FYI

Just received my headers from AA. I went with the plain steel. Whats everybody using for a coating. Ive read different opinions from BBQ paint to VHT or dedicated header paint. thanks Phil

I’ve been using Dupli-Color Header paint but after a few heat cycles I couldn’t tell you the difference between it and VHT.
