Replacement speedometer cable for 75 CJ5

I am nearing the end of my 8 year journey rebuilding my 75 CJ5. I have purchased a replacement speedometer cable and the end that goes to the transmission does not fit. (Too small in diameter) I went to all the local parts stores in town and cannot find a cable that will fit. Surely someone on this site can direct me to a good source. (I checked the "where to buy parts" sticky but the photo's of all the speedometer cables look like what I already have).

Is there an adaptor or something that I am missing?

    Confused,

You running a 3 or 4 speed, 6 or 8 cyl? Got a bunch of old stock cables here I haven't taken the time to figure out what they fit yet, I'll have a look.

*UPDATE* Had a look through and no cables, do you have a picture of the one they sold you? Shouldn't be any adapters needed.

Do you have the original cable? If so, you can replace just the core. You don't have to buy a new sheath.

If not, post up a pic of what you've got.

I am running a V-8..... 3 speed.... I don't think I have the original cable... I am in Alabama, the Jeep is in Arkansas... I shall have my Father-in-Law take a photo of both ends of the cable that I have purchased....

    Thanks,

    Gasseous
