canvas top

    What's the advantage of a canvas top?

    half cabs, and they look better than the best tops IMO.

    ummm I mean smell , yeah that's it. The smell of gently mildewing canvas. Aaaaah.............

    Yep. And they don't fit or attach as well as a new vinyl top.

  6. My father in law has this CJ-3A with a Canvas Top, apart from the great mildewy smell you guys say R) - (which is true)... it looks great compared to the shiny vinyl one. Also, in my understanding the canvas top lasts longer than the vinyl one in weather exposure.

    The canvas do last longer. I am not sure of the cost savings any more though due to the fact that they cost more to start with.

    I kinda miss the smell - brings back lots of memories hunting when I was little :)

    Canvas. Vinyl stinks at first but goes away. Canvas always stinks:)

    I have vinyl and dread the fall when it's in the 50's and putting this thing back on. I don't have a heated garage to do it in. The colder it gets the tighter they get.

    The canvas ones are a lot easier to put on. At least you don't have to fight to get that last button on. And not to mention, all the tops, bikini, full and half are all in one. So if a day starts out good, the bikini will be use and then if it turns to crap, it can easily be switched over to full top.

    the canvas smells because of the water treatment thats on it not because its moldy lol
