I have set up a few RWD pinion angles before. But, the one on the front of my CJ seems wrong to me.

The front yoke is facing up. To be parallel with the drive line shouldn't it be facing down.

Not that big of deal to me yet because I have never had it over 25 MPH with the front hubs locked in but I am going to do some front spring work soon and I might as well get it right.

My first guess is the PO put the front springs in backwards or, I don't know enough about 4WD yet.

Yes, usually used at slow speed, and the front driveshaft on a CJ is longer than the rear, so the relative angles aren't so acute.

Parallel is parallel. Actually, the only parallel configuration is co-linear ... when the pinion long axis is the same as the driveshaft long axis. A Jeep never has this configuration at rest.

You kinda have to accept the front pinion angle, whatever it is. It's more important that you get your caster angle right. The caster angle changes the pinion angle, but you can't help that without removing the knuckles and rotating them on the axle tubes.

Good point, thank you. I will check what my caster is before I take my front springs apart. Where ever the pinion ends up, is where it goes.
