Also, pretty sure that all the cap-adapt stuff is meant for the MSD distributor, which also uses the Delco "window" cap (same as GM products, and Jeep). There has to be a red MSD cap with the HEI terminals that will fit your distributor ... then you could use the HEI-style wires and not need the expensive cap adapter.

    Maybe this one? http://www.msdignition.com/product.aspx?id=5493&terms=8433

I think that's the cap I need... at least I did until I called MSD the second time to make sure! The first tech told me yes and then the 2nd support call guy said it's a Chevy cap and that he wasn't sure it would work. Summit couldn't confirm either but they did say that they had an equivalent part that included the rotor (G5245).

You're right Tim, all I'm trying to do is use my points distributor with the 6A box which requires the HEI wires which seems to be pretty simple according to the Summit/MSD link you referenced in an earlier post. Am I missing anything?

Did you look at the instructions for the 8433 on the MSD page? Click on the instructions tab and pick the PDF file. The Jeep Delco distributor and the Chevy Delco distributor use the same distributor cap (DR429 Standard) so it should work. The DR429 is the "window cap" that the PDF in the MSD link refers to. You can look at the applications in the part number look-up at RockAuto.com

You should be able to wire it up just like the diagram on page 10 of the Summit/MSD PDF above. It'll work without the HEI-type wires, but the HEI-type wires would be a better choice IMO.

Correct you don't need HEI wires, just spiral wound (not solid core) wires. I bought some Taylor spiro pro wires to hook up to my blue DR429 cap.

Put my msd 6a on today, it is really an easy instalation. My only question is, I had two wires on the + side of my coil both wires register 12v while running... obviously one is not the ballast resistor wire because it should only show 6v correct? Should i hook both wires together? one runs to the solenoid on the passanger side while the other seems to run to the ignition switch i believe. thanks Jake

Yes, you'll need to connect those 2 wires together. I had the same question awhile back. I connected mine together and dropped them down in the loom.
