I have looked around at the different aftermarket vendors, talked to one and the only thing I have found is a direct replacement, no lift, body spacer kits. Am I missing a vendor or what did you do to get a body lift on a early CJ? If you made your own, what did you use? I want 1 to 1 1/2 inch lift.

    Thanks,

Most don't lift because of the through floorboard pedals.

That, and if you're running the Ross steering, the column won't line up right where it passes through the floor and under the dash.

I lift mine, for 1 inch you can use AL pucks from MORE. I also rebuild the mount from the frame to lift it the desired height with 1/8". I find that works best as I usually lift the flatties 2" so I can clear air cleaners and such better under the hood.

As to the down side - all true - I swap the steering to saginaw and put swinging pedals in.

You can use chevy motor mount biscuits as well. IIRC they are around 1 inch. The napa part number is 602-1044 and 602-1045

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and concerns, pedals & steering. Steering isn't a problem as I have the saginaw upgrade but will look into the pedals. Thanks for the materal/biscuit mounts info! Would be happy with any lift!!!!!

Hockey Pucks are reputed to work for this.

    Again thanks everyone!

I started the lift today. I purchased the '55-57 chevy motor mounts and they work prefect. I will get a little less than 3/4" lift. All the old is removed but first I have to repair one mount bolt hole, a little rust, & add a new self-made rear bumper. Everything is cleaned and ready for the construction of the bumper tomorrow, one day job. Easier to do with the body loose. I sit the mounts between the body and frame to get a preview and you can noticeably see the lift. Very pleased! Combined with the 2 1/2 from the Rancho springs & 1" from Shackles I should be sitting pretty for running 32-33" tires.
