willys59cj5 I think Jim will only have room for your beer cooler and maybe the food cooler depending on the contents! :)

waste not want not :D......that gate, and the fence it was attached to was the first thing we ripped out when we bought this home. The previous owners had bars and locks everywhere, felt like a prison.
Most of the fence was used to make a tool room inside a container at work...the rack portion was the last usable piece.

finished up the rack tonight. big kudos to my son who was an immense help. Other than my welding/or lack thereof skills I'm happy with the results. First pic is my boy practising his welding skills (probably be better than me in no time)
    test fitting the supports
    [IMG]
I used a hot wrench to bend the legs to fit
    [IMG]
    painted and bolted in place
    [IMG]
can't park it in the garage with it on so it'll come off except during use.
I also came up with a holder for my garage door openers/sunglasses/cell phone....used a piece of conveyor belt tek screwed to the w/s frame....works great!

If you have a 6 you have to visit Mike Boyink's site.....most of the inspiration for my build came from this site and his
    http://www.boyink.com/splaat/ssdutch/
looking forward to seeing your build

continuing to prep the 6 for the Rubicon run coming up. I changed all the diff / TC/ trans fluids today. I also installed diff vents and plumbed hose up high. On the front D30 I used the factory vent hole and JBWELD'ed a 1/4" barb into it, from there it was simply running some rubber hose up to the headlight area
    [IMG]
on the D44 in back I drilled and tapped a hole high on the diff cover, screwed in a 1/4" barb and ran the hose high into the wheel well (sorry no pic/ difficult lighting for the camera phone)
I also installed the plaque that Mcruff made for me
    [IMG]
Still need to install the CB, maybe tomorrow

got the steering stabilizer re-installed and started on another concern/project. I assume it's gonna be hot on the Rubicon next week. Ever since seeing Boyinks carpet pics I've been thinking I need to do something for floor surfaces on my 6. Last week we replaced some of the carpeted mats at my office so I snagged a throw away.....cut off the raty edges and cut it in place from the tailgate to the front seats
    [IMG]
these will be easy to remove and should be easy on the feet. I figure I'll pic up a couple carpeted mats for the front and call it good.
I also put some self sticking floor tread ( rough finish) on the rock rail top edge....buggers got slick when wet.
Tomorrow I HAVE to get the CB installed :)

OK finally got to the CB install....this equipment came w/ the M38A1, wasn't even sure if it would work.
I made a couple brackets out of aluminum (cut offs from my corner guards :))
decided to mount it under the stereo, outta the way and wiring is easy
    [IMG]
the antenna is a magnetic base and I routed it back to the rear passager wheel well
    [IMG]
I turned it on and was picking up conversations on several differant channels....havn't tried to transmit yet.
I made a bracket for the mike, just not sure which side of the radio to mount it to.
    About ready for the Rubicon

so I have several projects on the 6 after the rubicon trip....I ordered new Currie spring plates, and Rancho ubolts to replace the spring plate that was destroyed on the trip
    [IMG]
they went on nicely, just need to trim off the excess ubolt now
    [IMG]
not a very good comparison pic, but the new currie units are alot bigger and way beefier than what I had on there
    [IMG]
tomorrow I'll be rebuilding or replacing the trans/tc xmember, and the skid plate...also have new rubber fender flares if there's time :)

so I took the skid plate off (looked like a potato chip :() and removed the bent up x member
    [IMG]
alot of hammering, prying, throwing, swearing and I got it back close to the original shape, after seeing Christian's (aka Dummy)repair I decided that was the route for me. I cut out a 1/8" plate and welded it on for support
    [IMG]
I had bolted it up originally using 3/4" plywood strips as spacers on the frame, but I cut 1" square tube this time....the xtra 1/4" will help my OD linkage clearance
    [IMG]
all I need to do is bolt up the skidplate that Christian gave me last week and it'll be another job off my list :)

Looking great Jim. I still can't figure out how you get so much time to work on your jeep. Mine is not looking much different since the last time you saw it.:)

two things come to mind Mike....one, I'm happier in the garage than most anywhere else (and my wife's happy when I'm in the garageR))...two, the 6 is my daily ride which gives me an excuse to be in the garage

    could be I don't have a life as well I guess R)R)R)

so getting sprayed w/ muddy water every morning at the nursery was getting old so I started on the new flares. I ordered the heavy duty rubber flares made by Pacer Industries, and I got the hammer and dolly out to massage the worst of the body damage incurred at the Rubicon. It's hard not getting the bondo out and doing it right, but it'll wait for another day.
The flares come w/ a heavy gauge wire that threads into the outer edge for strength...got the drivers side done tonite ( much more difficult install than the plastic units)....guess we'll see if I arrive to work clean tomorrow R)
