Caster can be adjusted with wedges between the spring pads and the springs. All my early leaf spring Jeeps get a little extra caster since I almost always use longer than stock front shackles.

Camber can be adjusted via shims between the spindle and knuckle, but I'd closely inspect the spindles, knuckles, and bearings first.

Tire pressure is set at 28 psi all around I just checked yesterday. But I might lower to 25 and see if that makes a softer ride on my load range E Tires on my cj.

What is the factory pressure for 7.50x16 tires?

I will go out in about an hour and rotate the tires around. How do I inspect for bent parts? Knuckle, spindle, axle shaft. I don't think anything was bent enough to be obvious or I would have noticed when I rebuilt the axle.

My wheel bearings have a very slight knock when I shake the tires on both front. I am not a mechanic but I think they are good on adjustment. Kingpin bearings were replaced right before that alignment so they shouldn't be the problem of my alignment issue

"What is the factory pressure for 7.50x16 tires?"

For the 6.00x16, 26psi rear, 28psi front - according to my FSM. I'd expect a 7.50x16 to need less.

I still think that until you get rid of those near bald, cupped, aggressive lug tires, you're going to get lots of noise and vibration from them.

yep I plan on getting new tires for this jeep. but probably not yet.

I still need tires for the motorhome, and my Silverado and my m100 trailer. I have too damn many vehicles ( I counted 12 titles in my name last time I was in the safe)

anyone know where I can buy caster shims? maybe a part number? I just measured my crown leaf springs at 1.75 inches wide

I have been gathering factory 16 inch wheels as they came up (old jeeps and parts are rare in my area) and I think I have a full set to replace these modified wheels. this 59 cj5 should have how wide of rims?

I went back out and rotated the tires just now and looked at it more. I came to the conclusion that the slight knock when shaking the wheels were not from the wheel bearings.

but the knock was from kingpins, either the new bearings just installed 2 years ago, or from the kingpins themselves. ( I am leaning towards kingpings themselves since I don't remember checking these, and like stated the bearings where just replaced) but the king pin movement wasn't bad just barely noticable

Kingpins themselves don't usually generate issues unless the bearings went *way* bad & damaged them.

When you replaced the bearings did you set them up with shims to meet the factory spec of 14 lbs. pull to move the hub?

Any moving part that "knocks" when moved either has lack of lubrication, too much clearance, or both. Readjust the components with the "knock" to specs, make sure they are lubricated properly, and change tires/wheels like the others said.

Send Mcruff a pm with info of what you need. Does excellent work for a very reasonable price.

The 16" wheels for yours should be 5" wide. Just today I got a set for my flatty to replace the 6" Gladiator wheels.
I sure like those wheels on your Jeep. Do they run true?

With my setup, I find I get more wobble and adverse feedback through the steering wheel if I run my tires at a lower pressure. 28 psi is a low pressure. I run mine between 35 and 40 psi. All at the same level, like 37.

I run my 10 ply radials on my CJ2A at 25lbs. Not a problem and even tread wear. On my '67, I ran the 33X10.50's at 26-28. Even on my TJ, I run the 33's at 28lbs.

Just to support Patrick's post, I run the 33"x12.50"x15" on 10" wide wheels on the '59 CJ-5 on the street at 26-24 psi (radials). Decent ride and good tire wear. The sidewalls will wear out before the tread most likely. About time for new tires as they've been on about 20 years...
