sounds like a really neat jeep, one that all of us would do lots of things to own. we don't have enough of anything to have more than one (says the woman of the house), so that kinda helps.

Struck a deal with the guy over the phone yesterday. He is gathering up his paperwork and I expect to meet up after I finish work today to complete the purchase.

He told me it is a 63 which his father bought in 69. The last time it was driven was about 40 years ago and it sat in a climate controlled storage building until it was towed to that shop about a year ago to see about getting it road worthy. They put new brakes on it, but when it came to getting the engine to run their estimate on the repair was more than he wanted to put into it.

This all sounds too good to be true, and I will rest easier once the Jeep is on a trailer heading to my place.

Was looking at Snoops list of vehicles. My wife once asked me how many cars I had owned. I could only count 50 but probably forgot a few.

Well, deal is stalled for now. Turns out the owner has left the Jeep at that shop for over a year. The shop owner won't release the Jeep until he is paid something for storage. They are in dispute over how much is owed, so I am left waiting while they sort it out. It sounded too good to be true, but I haven't given up yet.

Sounds like the shop owner wants to own the jeep himself. Is there a signed work order?

That could be a very large bill, have the owner call you when it's resolved.

    Possible.

Has the owner disclosed the storage charge to you? I'd try to negotiate with the shop owner. I'd guess you could rent indoors parking in a garage or barn for $50/mo? Something like that. Rents for space should not be expensive in rural areas. A year would be $600 at that rate. If the shop owner wants something outrageous, it's possible he's trying to keep it.

Was the work that was originally done to it paid for? Wonder if that is part of the equation.

The shop owner is a very honest guy, and the storage fee he mentioned to me is very reasonable. When the owner priced the Jeep to me he didn't know he owed anything so I assume he paid for the brake work he had done.

Since he didn't know about the charge when he priced it to me, I may have to pay a little more for the Jeep, but I would be willing to do that.
