any diff in noise and water proof between the black vinyl (01) and the black denim (15) fabrics on the besttop supertop?

any diff in how they last or install?

While I like the look of the Black Denim better they are harder to clean and keep clean than the black vinyl, the stitching in my opinion tends to hold up a little better on the black vinyl, I think mainly due to the stiffness of the Balck denim material compared to the vinyl.

My brother has black denim, my dad has black vinyl, and I have gray denim.....
The vinyl is definitely easier to clean. As far as water proof and noise, I don't think there is any difference....

FWIW I had the black vinyl Supertop on Dutch for at least 10 years...and other than rollover damage it looked great yet. Still got ~200 for it on eBay even. Just kept at it with Armour All.

Black denim is a pain to clean. I was trying to clean up the TJ's 1/2 cab last nite. Still has mud stains on it even after a vigorous scrubbing with a stiff bristle brush.

I like the look of it better but the vinyl's definitely easier to clean.

Oh..reminds me. The backseat in SSDutch is black denim. It has dirt/mud stains in it that I cannot get out, and have tried every chemical in the house on it.

I kept my black vinyl Kayline top looking new with black top wax (except for the windows). Contains black pigment.

You might try black Rit dye on the denim - recolor the stains.

I have the black denim on speedy. I like the looks of it better...it's a flat black, not a glossy black like the vinyl. No real issues on cleaning it yet, either. YMMV ;)

I think that the only other color that would be harder to keep would be white, but I vote for tan. Appearently the only one that did. It would look mighty good on that black jeep. I own two of them and they do require care, but they all do. My Black smooth vinyl still has red mud stains that have been impossible to get out. It's a tossup in my book, go with what you think looks best.(<whisper>:tan) :D .02

    thanks all.

i checked into the ebay seller jeepnstuff. seems to be the same thing as pokey's in lebanon, tn. somehow affiliated with mcgee's auto there. does custom work esp on cj8 scramblers.

tim, great the ritz is a good idea!

jd, your subtly is only outdone by your great wisdom. hmm... tan huh? might have to think about that for a bit.....

and scarecrow.. i think that i will miss you most of all... no.. wait ... blink, blink ... never mind that. i'm back now. ( damn 1960's...)

i wish they offered the 31% tinted windows for the early cj tops.

I had a Levis tan Bestop on my Fairway Green CJ-5 for a while - looked sharp. At the time I wished I had the seats to go with it.
