Certainly it was gone by '72. Don't know if it was optional or not. It was a stock item - I shelved a lot of them in the Jeep parts dept. around that time.

My '67' did not have one when I bought it new. However for less than $5.00 I could buy a 'Throttle' named cable from the dealer, so I did and installed it. There was a hole in the dash where the Throttle cable should go.

My 71 did not come with one new, but I added one. It had the hole for one however in the dash. Great for the PTO. Plus JEEPs have to have cruise control don't they? :)

Greencj5 here is how I did mine. Its lasted for 36 years with no problems and has always worked great with never having any hangups or anything. I just drilled a hole in the side of a washer and then just placed the washer on the throttle rod, and ran the manual throttle cable through the hole in the washer with a cable clamp on the other side. When the regular foot throttle moves, it just goes back and forth on the manual cable.

I think that just answered my question about how to put a throttle on a 225. I'll have to give it a shot this summer.

My '61 has one or should I say had one. I removed it when I bought it since the po had it disconnected with the cable just hanging.

I set my '69 with a 225 up like this last night. Works great so far. Thanks for the tip. Don't know if it was ever a stock item on later early CJ5s (that does not sound right) but it should have been.
