I have just acquired a dana 44 with an original Power lock diffential. What do folks use for oil in these? I see that originally they require a specific Jeep part number for lube. What can I use that is available today?

There are limited slip additives out there, like Equa Torque, etc. I actually use some stuff from Ford Motorsports...

But do I use straight 90 weight plus the additive or is there a different oil too? I know that it has clutches in it, but do the new lubes for positraction diff's work with this? Thanks. R.

The newer all-in-one oils should work, but some report clutch chatter. Otherwise use plain 90wt with additive.

85W90 GL-5. GL-5 is formulated for limited slips.

I'm using the same. If it chatters you can use the Equa Torque or equivalent. I put Equa Torque in for a new Powerlok, but skip it when I change out the break-in oil.
