year of remanufacture & who?

    next question: the engine I am going to put into the jeep (hopefully later today) has a "Remanufactured" tag on it that looks like it was a dealer item, but what do I know?

    it was pulleed from a 52mb - any way to track the date of remanufacture?

    Mostly certain this is a tag from an independent rebuilder. Probably used for their warehousing and warranty only.

    Yeah I doubt seriously that number/ tag will lead you anywhere. Maybe, maybe, if you knew the company who reman'd it....

    FYI Tonk came with a re-maned engine, it *was* a factory item, had a little aluminum plate riveted to the block that had an AMC logo on it.

    welp guess that answers that - not a bigie - just like knowing the history of everything - I read somewhere that the blue color was used by the factory for remanufactured engines. thought there might be a data base out there that said what was done so I could determine what is in it. No matter, it runs, it is getting installed. It will by me time to save up to finish the overhaul on the other engine.

    If you want im sure i could call and find out the info. The schroon lake highway garage might have the info in their files.. Im pretty sure they were the ones who has it put in there.. any ways good luck, ran pretty good for me, i would have kept it but i like to be difficult and go for the fuel injected 6 R)

    by the way its a 1952 m38a1 :)

    Hey bud - engine is in, all that is left is to install the alternator and PS pump, then put teh front grill on and connect the fuel and coolant lines, little colant and some fresh oil - we are back running

    today was a good day

    oh - if ya find out - cool - if not, no biggie, I was just curious as I like the trivia aspect of what is in a jeep.
