Track Bar Envy

    Exactly what does the track bar do on YJ's? I speak of the bar that attaches to the top of the front axle tube then run to the frame rail on the other side of the tube? The YJ suspension is basically the same as the CJ's but they don't have one. Why not? Do I need one?

    limits articulation and makes for a rougher ride.

    It purpose is to keep the axle centered under the Jeep to improve on-road manners. You don't need one.

    You mean a panhard bar or an anti-roll bar?

    He means panhard. I don't envy the TJ/XJ/ZJ guys that have them, seems they always have problems with ends and mounts.

    Yep, I replace a fair amount of track bars on XJ's...
    I'd think they would last longer on a leaf sprung vehicle though.

    I hear ya. According to the YJ guys if they fell off they wouldn't notice anyway. The coil sprung guys are a different story with death wobble.
