Huge mess all over garage floor. The hose from the water pump is 3/4" and the hose from the intake manifold is 5/8". Why are both connections to the heater core for 5/8" hose. I thought I could tighten the 3/4" hose to the 5/8" inlet down tight enough to keep it from leaking. I was wrong. What is the cure for this and why wasn't a 3/4" inlet provided.

Stretch a 5/8" hose over the water pump bib and just use the 5/8". Been running mine this way for 12 years.

Inline adapters from 3/4" to 5/8" are available on the HELP pegs at your FLAPS, IIRC. Or look on the Dorman web page. The fittings for the water pump or manifold are also available in 3/4" and 5/8"... whichever is more convenient. A good FLAPS can help you with this.

The nipple on the water pump is part of the water pump. Apparently these came from the factory with 3- 5/8" bibs and one 3/4" bib. Wonder if the original heater hose compensated for it..

Went to auto parts store and got a 3/4" to 5/8" adapter and cut it in about half way between water pump and heater core. Problem solved. I wonder how the problem was solved at the factory. The water pump definatly has a 3/4" outlet and the two heater cores I have deinatly have two 5/8" openings.

That'll work. Like I said, I don't know how the factory heater hoses were, but both of mine, and my dad's, all had the 5/8" pushed on to the 3/4" nipple on the W/P, and that's how I re-did them.
