    Need some help guys,

My 1975 CJ6 has from what I can make out the old CJ3 type over centre clamps to prevent the windshield from opening forward, this seems to go against the norm for that year with from what I can make out the rest use the wingnut style system, is my assumption correct? was this an export vehicle option? Problem I have is both mine are broken and I need to replace them, thing is they seem to be like hens teeth!! Any suggestions/comments welcomed. Oh and I will be replacing the frame as its knackered so another point is will the replacement frame use my setup or the newer wingnut setup?

I replaced the ones on my 73 with these.

I still have the originals if you want them for the cost of shipping. The only part that's missing are the plates that go behind the dash, I re-used them on the new ones. If you're interested, PM me.

I believe they went to the wingnut system in 76. The Advance Adapters replacement mentioned above seems to be the accepted replacement. The cam latches wear out over time. Unless you want to keep it all stock, the latches are pretty much worthless. I changed over the the AA replacements and would never go back to the latches. They are far superior.

The aa units are definitely more positive and look nice to boot but if the latches are in good condition and adjusted right they work ok. The aa is definitely an upgrade. Cost of shipping for originals is very generous

I need to get a pair of those. Ive been fighting my stock latches long enough. Every time I ratchet the bikini top on the latches fall off. Very irritating.

If I follow you guys here, my '75 CJ5 had the "over center" style latches, and I don't think they'd been replaced at any point.

Timgr, I could be mistaken, but I think Alex V is saying that he's never had a problem with his latches, even though they're original.
    Just how I read it.

Sorry, I wasn't asking a question - I was just saying that if they're talking about the part I think they're talking about, I've never had a problem with mine. :)

If I understand correctly what everyone's saying, my CJ5 had the "over center" style latch, like this: https://www.dragtimes.com/images-cl...et-Clamp-Cj5-Willys-for-sale_260724869180.jpg They worked fine, but I never had a soft top on mine, only a bikini top.

Thanks for the offer but you do realise I'm in Ireland and not the US? However, I may still take you up on your offer if it still stands. Does the new style ones fit to the same mountings as the old ones, i.e. do the holes line up? If they indeed do I may consider doing the upgarde.

Ireland!!!!!..Ha,yes I noticed that at the beginning.
The back part, the part with the teeth shown in the picture, aligns with the part that is on the face of the dash panel. I think that part is permanently attached to the dash panel. The AA upgrade parts connect exactly like the originals, using the same holes. One of the latches that I have is the normal gray color and the other has a rusty film/color. I oiled them and they both work well, although you might want to paint them.
If you plan on using my old ones, let me know the info needed for shipping them to you and I'll get some prices from a couple of sources and let you know. You could send an email if you did not want to list your info here.

WOW!!!...R) that would make the decision to do the AA upgrade pretty obvious for me. Oh well...it was worth a shot.
Wait a minute...was that cost to ship my parts or the AA upgrade??

After reading it again, I think you're talking about the cost to ship the AA parts. Let me know if you come up with a decision on my latches. One can only guess at what the cost to ship those might be!!

Just send them by mail. You can probably do the priority envelope thing. If it fits it ships.

Guys, I want some sort of latch, after reading reviews on the older style latch I thought it may be better to update and go for the newer type, but the price to ship the AA part is ridiculas. I might email them and see if they would just post it? If that doesn't work out I'll take you up on the offer Rick of your old ones. Give me a few days to see what I get back from AA.
